5 MINUTES WITH R&B ARTIST-JOROB

Please let us know who is Jorob.
JoRob is a down to earth, humble guy, looking to use his music to change lives. Throughout my music career I have helped a lot of artist better themselves and take their careers to the next level. I’m one of the hardest working independent artists from the DMV. I am a soulful R&B singer looking to tell my story. I want to move each person that listens to my music.
When is the earliest you started singing?
I really started singing in middle school. I had a lot going on in my life at that time. So I needed a way to get it off my chest. It was the only way I could get away from drama and problems. I could lock myself in my room for hours listening and writing music.
Do you write your own songs or have a writing partner?
I write my own music but I have co written a few projects. I also had the opportunity to work with 2 major writers on my album. I worked with Richard Bassoff and Nickey Braddy (Sony Records) on my album R&B’s Best Kept Secret. I did a rendition of the song “Invitation to Love”. This is one of my favorite songs on the album because we were able to take a song written a few years back By Nickey & Richard and tweak it so a younger generation could related it.
What inspires your music?
Life experiences inspire me the most.
I like to write about real life situations that have happened in my life or the ppl around. I think this is one reason people like my music. I write music they can relate to. How many times have you wanted to say something to your girlfriends or boyfriends and you used a song to help you get your point across? I want to write music that my fan can say “Hey that’s my song!”
What is the name of your current project and describe it?
I recently released my new album R&B’s Best Kept Secret. This album has something for everyone. I wanted to put this album out to really let folks see my R&B side. R&B music is my soul. R&B’s Best Kept Secret is getting a great response in the UK; something I didn’t expect. Everyone says I have brought 90’s R&B back to life. I plan on keeping R&B music alive because right now it seems to be dead. In the past year I have featured on HipHop Duo GoodHoods album, wayno, Bless, Reddz of DieRichMafia, BonnieRash which is a Pop/Rock Band with their own twist and a few others.
You promote other artist through your social network pages , most artist dont, please explain we you do.
Yes, I help promote a lot of artists on my social networks. Most of the ppl I promote are from my team and people I have worked with but the others are artists that have reached out for my help. At the end of the day I’m building a team of ppl. The more ppl I help the more ppl help me. A lot of artists can be selfish or afraid some one is going to outshine them. I don’t think that way. Artists and fans respect artists who aren’t just about themselves. Most artists are in this game for all the wrong reasons. I’m in this game to help as many people as I can and leave a stamp. I want to be known for all the good I do.
How important is social media to you as a artist?
Right now social media is the most important thing for artists. The more ppl you can reach the better chance you have for some one important to see you. If you plan on getting picked up by a major; having a strong web presents will show them that you can reach a crazy amount of people at 1 time and people like what you do. I hate to say it but majors don’t look for talent like they used to. Majors have gotten lazy, so you have to make them see you. So if you have 100k fans who love what you do and they tell a friend some one it will show that you have a buzz and you might be able to sale your product.
Whats next for Jorob?
I have many things in store for my fans this upcoming year.
Right now I am working with a few new artist and producers from overseas trying to help them perfect their projects. I am also working on my new record that I’m hoping to release in November 2012. This new album you will see another side of what I do. I am really excited about this album because I have so many new sounds and story’s I want everyone to hear. I am also working on opening another studio in the DMV area. I partnered up with Eye catching Ent and opened EC&J Studios (www.ecandjstudios.com) about 2 years ago. EC&J Studios is the only “1 Stop Shop” in the DMV. We have had so many great ppl come through and show love. We are getting a great response from the area so we hope to open another one.
I have also joined Master Minds Promotions so we have some major projects and life changing events. Master Minds Promotions is known for their HBO debuts. Make sure you go to http://www.JoRobIsMusic.com and subscribe to my site for updates. You can also tweet me @JoRobIsMusic

CAMO OBSESSION PART 1

Camoflauge has been around forever. The prints have become a permanent factor in fashion and not just of military functional use only. The prints are now used by civilians as a fashion pieces. From high fahion to streetwear to Walmart its become a staple in clothing. The patterns are on hats, shorts, shirts, jackets, bags and the list goes on. I have an obsession with camo. These are a few of my pieces.

VINTAGE FINDS- SCHOTT BROS JACKET

I found this vintage Schott Bros or SCHOTT NYC jacket in a store that was closing  many years ago. Schott Brothers started in 1913 in New York City and is a true American heritage brand. Marlon Brando, James Dean, Sex Pistols are a just a few of the people who have worn these beautiful jackets. This jacket has a plaid pattern with shearling. The buttons are that really nice too. The jacket is warm but  too not heavy. A real classic.

Nike Challenge Court Mid Summer 2012

I was browsing Highsnobiety for my daily fashion update and ran across this post about the rerelease of the Nike Challenge Court Mid. The red, white and blue is so summer and they probably look good brand new or beatdown. This model will fly the radar and thats perfect for me. Probably will cop on sale.

CUSTOM SOLDIER TSHIRT

STOCKS AND BONDS CUSTOM SOLDIER TSHIRT
This is one of  our custom soldier tshirts. One of One. Handpainted, stenciled, splatter and freehand. I used the mixture of pink and yellow and then outlined with black and grey.  I also water down the paint to reduce the thickness and texture in order to give it a watercolor effect.

VINTAGE FINDS- JACKETS

I am a huge fan of vintage apparel. In order to be in the fashion business I feel you should know the past, have an obssesion with clothing, study fashion, have your own style and appreciate other brands.
So I will be during   a vintage finds section which will highlight great buys, vintage items and even post from other sites if need be.
The first post is this group of jackets I bought about six years ago. They all were not my size and I didnt  care. The Lakers jacket by Champion was so ill. The ribbing around the shoulders just did it.The Browns jacket was a Starter and was cool. The coach jacket was for a collegiate team and the last jacket was so eighties. The color blocking with the green and purple in a composition book print just stood out for the last jacket.
